Carnival of Cities for 12 Dec 2013

Welcome to the Carnival of Cities blog carnival, where we tour the world in a single post, via submissions from a variety of different blogs, all about any aspect of one, single city or fair-sized town.

We normally publish every other week; the next edition will be hosted on the Perceptive Travel blog but we’re taking a break for the holidays so the next one will be on January 8, 2014.

If you would like to host a future Carnival edition on your blog, please contact me as the Carnival organizer:  Sheila “at” sheilascarborough “dot” com. You do need to register on the carnival administration website (it’s easy and free) to submit to this or any blog carnival.

Here’s more info and background about the Carnival of Cities blog carnival, and now….

Off we go!

Cities in Europe

Istanbul, Turkey   Louise McStravick has the Cumhuriyet Mahallesi Blues posted at One Foot in Europe.

Letterkenny, Ireland   Kerry Dexter highlights Unexpected Ireland: Letterkenny posted at Perceptive Travel Blog, saying, “a glimpse of a town in Ireland’s northwest that guidebooks often pass by”

Amsterdam, the Netherlands   Contented Traveller protests, Dear Amsterdam. Our love affair was not just a holiday romance! posted at Contented Traveller.

Istanbul, Turkey   It will be hard for you to pick a favorite in Vanessa Morgan’s Street cats from Istanbul posted at Traveling Cats.

Cities in the Middle East

St. Catherine, Egypt   Look for the stunning sunrise photo in Anwar Y’s Egypt: In the steps of Moses posted at Beyond My Front Door, saying, “Following the path that Moses had taken so many millennia ago. Experiencing the outdoors and the beautiful sunrise of a new day on the Sinai peninsula.”

Cities in the Americas

Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA   Amy Moore shows us Free Fun in the Minneapolis Riverfront District, Minnesota posted at Everything Everywhere Family Travel.

Destin, Florida, USA  Heather Thomas gives you The Complete Visitor’s Guide to Crab Island in Destin, Florida posted at Destin Vacation Boat Rentals.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA   Here’s my own lament: Oh Philadelphia, you made it hard to fall in love with you posted at Perceptive Travel Blog, saying, “Hang in there when first impressions fall short….”

Kalapana, Hawaii, USA   Byteful Travel captures a moment in Sitting at the Edge of Kalapana Cliff Video (Full-Moon at Uncle Robert’s) posted at Byteful Travel, saying, “KALAPANA, HI — As I was walking along the Kalapana cliffs at night, admiring the full moon hanging above the Pacific Ocean, I suddenly realized I had my Macbook Air with me. So here’s today’s Hawaii Minute in which we see the eastern coast of the Big Island and reflect about how we consciously decide where we end up.”

Castries, St Lucia   Angella Grey has exploring ideas in St Lucia Travel posted at Faraway Vacation Blog, saying, “If you love to island hop, Castries makes a great base with its catamaran-filled waters. And if you love shopping, make sure you arrive there with maximum overdraft.”

That concludes this edition, and thanks very much for visiting and supporting the Carnival.
